Beware of text scams!

I received this sms early this morning:

"Congrats!Ur Sim# had won (P1M+n95-nokia) frm: PAGCOR.4 ELELECTRONIC RAFFLE DRAW. DTI-NCR Permit#2177s'09 2 claim Call Now! Mngr: Ace Javier ds#" - 09235088255

Wow. I wish it was true! But it's obvious that it was a text scam! So I searched the net for some other info about this scammer and found out that there were lots of victims of this bogus text message!

Unfortunately, NTC can only block the number used by the scammer and make the sim no longer usable. They cannot pursue cases about it. But with the cheap price of sims nowadays, these scammers can buy another sim and continue their bad 'business'.

Almost everybody wants an easy money right now. And some did not took time to search and verify if the said raffle is true. The common story is, when you called their number, you will be transferred to other line. Then they will say that your period to claim the prize has expired and you need to deposit in their bank account some large amount of money.

Another text message that I received was (I received twice of this last year):

"hon, meron akong importanteng sasabihin sayo.di na ko makakareply. call ka na lang or share a load 50 pesos."

Huh?? I have a 'hon'??? hahaha! If I can only send virus through my jurassic phone I will surely do that! Hahaha! These people are desperate for cp load!

So just beware of these text scammers. They will do EVERYTHING just to get some money. If you didn't joined any raffle or contests and you received this text message, don't fall for it. Usually, if the raffle or contest is legal, the company who sponsored it is the one who will call you and not vice versa. God bless!
